Jordan Henderson is undoubtedly one of the greatest captains in Premier League history.
That is the view of ex-Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood, who skippered Blackburn to the top-flight title in 1995.

Henderson spent 12 trophy-laden years at Anfield before departing last summer.
Despite former captain Steven Gerrard being arguably the club’s best Premier League player, it is Henderson who is the Reds’ most successful skipper.
The 33-year-old – now at Ajax following a short stint in Saudi Arabia with Al Ettifaq – scooped seven trophies compared to Gerrard’s four.
And his success both domestically and in Europe has seen Sherwood name Henderson over his predecessor when he revealed his top five captains in Premier League history.
Appearing on the talkSPORT Breakfast show, legends from Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and United were all included.
Here’s who made the 55-year-old’s list.
John Terry – Chelsea
“I think if you win that much [17 major honours], Premier Leagues and cup competitions, you have to be a top-drawer leader.
“Someone who come through academy there, and it meant so much to him.

“He would instil so much into that dressing room of the foreign boys who were coming in, integrating them into how Chelsea wanted to go about things.
“They’re a million miles away from that now by the way, but John Terry has to be there.”
Patrick Vieira – Arsenal
“Someone I played against many, many times. Invinicible.
“I think for that reason alone, he has to be on this list.”

Vincent Kompany – Manchester City
“As a captain of Man City, he was just incredible.
“An unassuming guy, he kept a level head, he led by example on the pitch as well.”

Roy Keane – Manchester United
“Roy was a great competitor, a wonderful player to play against.
“I think if Roy wasn’t playing well, he’d make others play well, which is key.
“He obviously ruled with an iron fist as well, he would always be telling them.
“I always believed it’s not about blowing smoke up each other’s backsides, sometimes you have to get some bad news and you have to take it in the correct way.
“And I think that the captain leads from the front on that.”

Jordan Henderson – Liverpool
“My last one will be a shock, he’s a [former] Liverpool player and everyone thinks I’m just going to say Steven Gerrard straight away.
“But I think that the greatest captain they’ve had in the Premier League is Jordan Henderson.
“I think Stevie is an incredible player and amazing, and I don’t know what he did behind the scenes, but it was obviously very good.
“But Jordan for me, having won the Champions League and the Premier League, I think he just edges it.
“He was a leader, he was someone that didn’t care about what people thought of him when he was telling them bad news on the pitch, he would deal with it.
“I think he was good foil between the management and the players with Jurgen [Klopp] and he was a good servant to the club.
“And I think he has to go up there as one of the greatest Premier League captains.”
